Politics...As Usual

I don't even know where to begin. I heard the CRAZIEST thing as I came home from work today. First and foremost, let me just put out there that I'm not really into politics, but I have started to follow it more since I've relocated. I think as young and growing adults, we need to be VERY aware of the topics/issues that could possibly affect you in a positive or negative way. Now, with THAT said, what I'm about to write has NOTHING to do with the well-being of us at ALL. So, you guys know of a man named Donald Trump right? It appears that now he is questioning President Barack Obama's academics and intellect/intelligence, saying such things as "I heard he was a bad student, how did he get into Columbia and Harvard" and "I have friends who have kids that are smart and can't even get into Harvard" (or something along those lines when it comes both quotes). My immediate reaction....PISSED! It's so sad and unfortunate that till THIS DAY, people cannot accept that we have a African-American president, and will do ANYTHING to discredit him as a human being. Contrary to Mr. Trump's belief, Pres Obama was a very good student. He admits that he wasn't always that way, but I think it's normal for students to have that one semester or two that they don't do so great. And for Mr. Trump's INFORMATION...Pres Obama was the President of Harvard University's Law Review. Sooo, Mr. Donald Trump, are you trying to suggest that since Pres. Obama is a BLACK MAN that THAT puts him at a disadvantage when it comes to intelligence? That he's no smarter than a Caucasian male with them SAME exact transcripts, extracurricular activities, experiences etc.? I would really like to know the answer to those questions. But since you failed HORRIBLY at trying to discredit my Pres 3 YEARS into his presidency, I suggest you do something for me---SIT YOUR ASS DOWN and SHUT THE {*censored*} up!

And PLEASE PLEASE PLLLEEAAAASSSEEEE do NOT get me started on the woman that tried to challenge Obama on his U.S. citizenship. Yes, she straight came out and called Pres Obama a LIAR because he was not BORN in this country even AFTER she was presented with the actually document of his birth certificate. (Leaving out her name on purpose, because honestly, her name is NOT welcomed here. Check out CNN or MSNBC for more information.) I seriously CAN'T with people anymore. The one thing I admire about Pres. Obama the most (out of many things that is) is that through this all he is not phased by any of the slander. In his exact words, he considers it "silliness", and rightfully so. He has better things to do and take care then to worry about what individuals have to say about him.

I could go on and on about the naysayers, but I'm just going to end with a few words--GET OVER IT! We have an African-American president, which in my opinion is doing a HELL of a job trying to fix a country that was in shambles even before he was elected. In life, you have to realize that you can't make everyone happy. With a job like that, besides making the best decisions for the American people, who have to also make the best decisions for the country. Everybody doesn't have to agree with him or even like him, but one thing you will do, is RESPECT him!

Sailing Souls

I have to say. I get a RUSH out of finding new music. Given the week that I have, there's nothing better that brings me joy then MUSIC...NEW MUSIC at that. NEW GOOD MUSIC! This young lady is not a stranger to the music game at all. She's very familiar to those who were B2K fans back in the day *raises hand* Remember the songs "Happy", "Dog", and "He Couldn't Kiss"? (just to shake your memory :-) ) Anywho, for those who do not know her, let me introduce you to Ms. Jhene Akio Efuru Chilombo. (b.k.a Jhene Akio.) I stumbled upon her mixtape today titled Sailing Souls and I have to say...I LOVE IT!! It's exactly what I needed at this very moment. Honestly, she's like the female version of Drake. Her voice, a different sound from the rest, but that makes her stand out even more. She DEFINITELY can sing--HANDS DOWN! So far, I've been playing "Stranger" back to back to BACK. It's my fav on this mixtape, but honestly, I love all the songs. "My Mine", "You vs. Them", "Do Better Blues", "Hoe" feat Miguel, "July" feat Drake (which I heard a year ago) and many more. It's a great listen and I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. Check out the song that I have
been playing back below. Enjoy! :-)

"Rehab"

Fifty-three days since I've been a prisoner behind these walls.
I agreed to check myself in because I knew I needed to detox...get this out of my system....
For weeks I was open to change, and ready to embrace life...start all over...sober that is...
But this drug addiction...just too effin POWERFUL...

Check-in was hard...
Denial was my claim of fame at first..
Couldn't believe it had boiled down to this...
Wasn't willingly to accept it..
With time, I did, and fully started participating in the program..
But now..I don't know how much more I can take...

My story...been using for almost 3 years now...2 1/2 to be exact.
Fairly new at this drug game
Tempted before in the past, tried it once before, but I had no clue what I was doing.
Was too smart to fall in TOO deep..
That is until..October changed that all..

First time I got high...took me to levels of the unknown
Was a bit nervous at first
But once I felt the effect of the first hit, nothing else seemed to matter...
The world around me started to make sense...I was happy...whole..COMPLETE...FINALLY!
Nothing could keep me from being up in the clouds..
WHAT A DRUG....

Just to feel the rushing feeling entering my veins..ventricles...capillaries..
Last stop....brain...
PARALYZED me...
Damn..what a feeling!
Thoughts of it make my body tingle...
Snorted.......injected......tasted....was my method of usage
All I knew was this...MY WORLD...
LIVED and BREATHED this...
Overdosing...never a concern...
A risk I was willingly to take...

This addiction...so powerful...
This disease...mind consuming..
Withdrawals are a bitch...
Shivering....nausea.....stomach pains...headaches...hot flashes...tears....sweet dreams...
Nightmares...and more recently....mood swings...
Don't know how much more I can endure.
I'm ready to use...

I keep praying for strength, courage, wisdom, tolerance..
Most importantly...PATIENCE....
My faith..so much STRONGER then this disease.
Committed to change, but I'm withdrawing something SERIOUS...
Thoughts on overload...memories circulating my mind...
I don't want to start over...
HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP?!?!?!

Wish I knew the answer...
If there's one thing I know..it's that I need to get better..
Just seems like my addiction gets stronger and stronger with each passing day...

Rehab has been quite an experience thus far. My drug...different from my peers
Not even Dr. Drew can heal me...
One day at a time I keep telling myself...
Mind over matter
Until then..I lay low...until I have THIS all taken care of.
Reality...life's greatest lesson..

My name...Hopeless Romantic...My drug of choice...Him

Is It All Really In The Stars?

According to Dictionary.com, Astrology is defined as the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs. Another definition includes, the study of the motion and relative positions of the planets, sun, and moon, interpreted in terms of human characteristics and activities. Wow..aren't those quite the definition! Astrology has been around for YEARS and there are so many aspect of it. (Google it on your own because I don't have time to go into ALL those details lol.) I guess the part in astrology that I am more interested in is when it comes to relationships. Everyone has an astrological sign. You know, the sign that you were born with? Capricorn..Aquarius.. Pisces...Aries..Taurus...Gemini..Cancer...Leo..Virgo..Libra..Scorpio... Sagittarius? Okay, so now that I have caught your attention and that you've realized that you are assigned an astrological sign (for those who weren't aware of this), I'd have to say that I agree with astrology. I'm a believer of it 85% of the time. For myself, I am a Virgo (Aug 23-September 21 is the Virgo sign range). Now, from the things that I have read about my sign, It's RIGHT on the money maker when it comes to me. With certain things  I'm like "ehhh...no..that's not me at all" but most of it, I'm amazed. Like really, you got this all from the planets, stars, sun, and the moon? Call me a nerd, but I think that is amazing! I love stars any way. So what! I am a NERD! lol
Now, from a relationship standpoint, it is said from ALL the astrology information that I have researched that Capricorns (Dec 23-Jan 22) is my MOST COMPATIBLE love sign. Hmmm, interesting! Do I agree with that? I have to say that I truly do. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't shoot down ANY guy that WAS NOT a Cap, because I feel like connections and vibes in general play a deeper roll than following what my love horoscope of the day may be, but let me tell you why I believe this. My recent relationship ( I know you guys get tired of saying this line, but it's the truth..lol), he's a Capricorn. When I say he is like NO OTHER I have ever experienced in life before when it comes to relationships....man! The vibe, connection, conversations, feelings, etc. Just all too intense (in a good way though). Well, at least that WAS the case...but I digress. I honestly don't know what makes us so compatible because we are indeed two different individuals personality wise. I'm more outspoken, outgoing, aggressive and spontaneous and ready for adventures. Him on the other hand, soft spoken, more of an introvert, passive to a certain existent, and artsy. Which isn't a problem. There are other aspects of our personality that compliments us as a whole and the relationship. We're different, but yet SOO similar. It's crazy! The first individual that I have EVER felt understands me more (aside from family), better than I understand myself (at times that is). And I feel that its the same when it comes to him ( well, that's another story that I don't care to discuss lol.) Do I believe this person is my soul mate? Are we made for each other? Hmmmm....I guess we (me and him) can only answer that question.

I think it's very interesting when someone who does not even know us personally can sit there and interpret our relationship probably better those who know us. Like I stated earlier, there are many more things that play into compatibility between two individuals, so do not make astrology your WHOLE WORLD. Astrology just  reassured me what we already knew...

So to my readers, I'd like to ask you a question? Do you believe in your love astrology? And if so, what's your most compatible love sign? Are you with that person currently? And if do not believe in astrology, why not? Leave a comment below please and thank you! :-)

Not Interested

As a person who is persistent, I can respect when someone is trying to go after something that they want. Whether it's a new career, a new hobby, a new adventure, etc. I find that quite commendable and bold. Persistence is the key to getting things you want nowadays. Individuals sometimes allow things to slip through their grasps because they never stayed on top of things and had a "laid back" attitude, which is a BIG NO-NO. When it comes to trying to spark a relationship or even a potential interest or vibe with someone of the opposite sex ( or the same sex for some)...NEGATIVE...and especially with a person like me...DOUBLE NEGATIVE. ESPECIALLY if I'm NOT INTERESTED!

These days, it's hard to meet men and women out there. Ones that really grab your attention and make you curious to even get to know them even better, which can eventually turn into something. Trust me, I know. That's RARE out there. Lol. I seem to be one of those individuals though based on what others have told me, and that's a compliment because I'd like to believe that I'm a rare BREED when it comes to women these days--I'm not like most. Well, I guess guys sense that once they get to know me and decide that they want to pounce! Well, PUMP YOUR BRAKES for a second sir. I never said I was interested! lol. I love it when a guy that I'm GENUINELY INTO is persistent. Someone who can sweep me off my feet with initial conversation, spark intellect, very handsome, leave a bit of a mystery, make me feel like I'm on top of the world with him with every encounter (I'm talking NON-sexual people ), and just overall my type of guy I can vibe with. (My recent relationship, he did all that and more!)

Nowadays, certain guys are just too eagered ! I had a really good conversation with a young gentlemen I met probably a month ago. He told me how he was still in love with his ex that broke it off with him a year ago, and I revealed a little bit about the situation that was going on with me at that time. He has the same birthday as the guy in my recent relationship so I thought that was quite ironic, but he was a cool guy to talk to. Not interested in him, not my type of guy at all, but didn't mind being cool with him and building a friendship. A BIG MISTAKE I tell you! There's no secret that he's interested me in, but the other way around...hmmmm..NO! Sorry! *Melly shrugs* It's not even my style to put people on blast because I'm such a nice person, and who am I to rain on your parade, but SIR, I'm just NOT that into you. Actually, I'm NOT into you at all! Lol.

I know that my female readers out there can relate. I find myself getting annoyed and irritated with guys that are just trying WAY too hard. Let it come naturally. Persistence is great, but make sure she's feeling you. Please take notes, if she's always telling you that she's busy, she's not into you. Everyone makes time for what they want, and if she was really interested in getting to know you, she'd find a way to fit you into her busy schedule. The same applies to guys as well. If while you're texting her and she responses in a one worded answer, or even IGNORES your text, she's not into you. So why do you continue to try? I ask you to do me this favor, for women EVERYWHERE around the world--HANG IT UP and proceed on to the next one.

I'm just saying...

No More Mrs. Nice Guy

It never fails that people will take advantage of you and/or take your kindness for weakness. In this particular situation, it's about reaching out to someone who you truly care about. I tweeted yesterday "One thing I won't do is act like you don't exist when I deeply and truly care about you. Friendship, familial relationships, etc." I honestly do mean that. Life is entirely too short to hold grudges. Yes, you are human and can and will be hurt by certain actions that love ones do, but to act like they don't exist is not accomplishing anything but you hiding how you truly feel. One thing that really grinds my gears is when I reach out to you out of compassion, worry, and just in general wanting to make sure you're okay, I'm ignored or brushed off. DON'T IGNORE ME! Because through all the bull{*censored*} you put me through, I took time out of my day to see if YOU were okay, and I didn't HAVE TO! That's {*censored*} is for the birds! It's okay for you to be in your own world, and wanting to get things accomplished, but take time to just say, "Hey, I'm well. Thanks for the concern, I hope everything is good on your end. I'll talk to you soon or when I'm ready to". Why is that so hard to do? I'm not a fan of "silence". Especially if you're really CLOSE to me and we have/had a really GREAT friendship, relationship, etc.

If  you don't want to speak to me, then frankly, just come out and tell me the reason why you don't want to, instead of me constantly making sure that you're still breathing. We're suppose to be adults, not drama prone high school teens. I don't work well to "silent treatments" because I always think God FORBID something happen to you or that person, that's the LAST memory you'd have--being angry, mad, frustrated, or just in total isolation from each other.  I've been joking about this for soo long, but I honestly do feel like I need to start acting like a {*censored*} to get my point across. But what good will that do for me? That's not the life I'm trying to live based on someone else's lack of compassion. I am who I am and I am that way for a reason. Acknowledgement is all that I want. Not to feel like you look at my calls and texts, delete, and go about your day. REALLY THOUGH? Smh. Soo much more to this whole situation, but this is just a piece of the puzzle. Still all a learning lesson. I'm a lover more than a fighter, but I will fight for love. Not just in the relationship aspect of love, but I'm talking about love for a family member, a really good friend, and even within a relationship. There's only soo much fighting you can do when you're the ONLY one in the ring. So I think I'm taking off my gloves and finally getting out the ring.(For the MILLIONTH time) Question is, when you're ready to fight, will I be in that ring with you? Thanks for listening to my venting session guys :-)

Can I Hit It In The Morning

This would have been a good song to listen to while we had that bad weather this weekend up north. Lol. This version of J Cole's "In The Morning" is Omarion's rendition of it. It's only a verse and a chorus, but still good and a must hear. Heard this a couple months back, but currently my song of choice at this moment. Enjoy! :-)
